WHO: 50% of the countries in the world have no Cancer Treatment Plan |
jakarta, indonesia welcomes world cancer day which falls on today, the world health organization or who do international survey. the results found that more than 50 per cent of the countries in the world do not have a plan of treatment, prevention and chronic care for cancer patients.according to the who, these countries do not have a comprehensive plan regarding the various aspects of the treatment of cancer, ranging from prevention, tests for diagnosing benign and stages of treatment as well as the relevant treatment for cancer patients.these countries need to be helped to lower the mortality rate due to cancer and given guidance on long-term treatment. these measures are expected to reduce the suffering of the population and socio-economic development of state aid is concerned.in 2008, as many as 7.6 million people died of cancer. there are 13 million new cancer cases are diagnosed each year so as to make the disease is crowned as the leading cause of death worldwide. nearly two-thirds of the case occurred in developing countries.the death of this case can actually be avoided because it is caused by the use of tobacco products, alcohol abuse, obesity and infection. in addition, a diagnosis of breast cancer, cervical cancer and colorectal cancer early can also help the healing."cancer is not a death verdict because there was a way that proved able to prevent and treat it. in order to reduce exposure to risk factors cause cancer and ensure every cancer patients access care and treatment that is appropriate, comprehensive cancer control programs need to be established in every country, "said dr. oleg chestnov, director-general of who for communicable diseases and mental health, as reported by the counsel and heal, monday (4/2/2013).to help members calculate and collect information about cases of cancer, who form a global initiative for cancer registry development in low-and middle-income countries (gicr). its center was established in mumbai, india in 2012. the next center will be established in izmir, turkey that will be fully functioning in 2013."this initiative primarily supports countries that don't have the resources against cancer burden efficiently. data on cancer cases will assist the government in making the program with the resources and funds are limited to areas that are most in need, "said dr christopher wild, iarc director.(pah/vit )
