jakarta, vitamin c is necessary nutrients the body for the sake of growth, recovery and counteract the radika free cause of premature aging. however, excessive consumption of vitamin c supplements may have a negative effect on the health of the kidneys.vitamin c is a powerful antioxidant and nutrient required for many body functions, including growth and repair of body tissue, absorption of iron, supports the immune system, helps with the healing of wounds, and maintaining healthy bones, among other important tasks.however, too much vitamin c in the form of supplements may be harmful. the healthiest way to get vitamin c you need is through food, such as fresh fruits and vegetables.levels of vitamin c appears to be too high of supplements can alter the acid in the body and cause kidney stones and other health problems. scientists from the karolinska institute in stockholm, sweden did a study on this subject over the past 11 years involving 48.850 men age 45 to 79 years.of the number of participants in the study, about 436 men develop kidney stones. researchers also investigate the participants who had taken the supplements of vitamin c supplements and not the other. while in comparison, the researchers also repeats his using data from participants who had taken multivitamins.the results show that men who take high doses of ascorbic acid (vitamin c) to about 1,000 milligrams per day had a risk of 2-fold higher against kidney stones."these findings may not be generalizable to women, since it is generally men are more at risk of developing kidney stones than women," said laura d.k. thomas, msc, the leader of the study, as reported by the emaxhealth, wednesday (6/2/2013).the authors of the study noted that men who used multivitamins did not show an increased risk of kidney stones are the same. while the increased risk occurs only in participants who took high doses of vitamin c.vitamin c is a water soluble vitamin, which means it dissolves easily and is not stored in the body, as well as quickly eliminated from the body through urine. thus, vitamin c should be replaced on a regular basis. the daily requirement of vitamin c is recommended approximately 75 mg for women who don't smoke and 90 mg for men who don't smoke.both men and women should add extra 35 mg of vitamin c per day if smoke. the level of intake of vitamin c that is tolerable for adults is about 2,000 mg per day and most people do not experience any side effects directly if too much consuming vitamin c.but some people may develop symptoms such as discomfort in the abdomen, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and more frequent urination while taking vitamin c 500 mg to 1000 mg or more a day.for some people who are more sensitive, consuming too much vitamin c can cause more serious health problems, such as:1. kidney problemsin addition to the increased risk of kidney stones in the study described above, an overdose of vitamin c also increases the risk of kidney problems. the consumption of high levels of vitamin c supplements can increase the levels of oxalate in the urine and produce calcium oxalate kidney stone, the most common type of kidney stones.oxalate is found naturally in fruits, vegetables, nuts, and chocolate, and is also produced by the liver.2. allergic reactionanyone with a corn allergy should examine whether supplements of vitamin c that is dikonsumsinya, as some supplements of vitamin c made from corn.3. heart disease in womenvitamin c supplements may be harmful to some women, especially postmenopausal women suffering from diabetes. a study of more than 1,900 postmenopausal women with diabetes found that women who had the highest intake of vitamin c (more than 300 mg per day) of supplements (not from food) have an increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease.4. the effects of blood thinninghigh doses of vitamin c may thin the blood because it has the nature of anticoagulants such as warfarin. anyone who has been prescribed to take blood thinning medications should consult a physician before taking vitamin c supplements.5. diabetestaking high doses of vitamin c can have an impact on blood glucose levels in diabetes patients and thereby affect its needs for medicines anti diabetic. if you have diabetes, you should talk to your doctor before taking vitamin c supplements.6. other health conditionsanyone who has a medical condition that is associated with the loading of acid, such as uric acid, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, cirrhosis, or kidney tubule acidosis should consult with a doctor before taking high doses of vitamin c.(vit/vit )
