jakarta, there have been many studies that revealed that obesity a.k.a obesity may result in various health problems such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, especially if you've experienced since childhood. a new study reveals that the negative effects will be more pronounced for boys rather than girls. how does it happen?according to the westmead millennium institute's researchers (wmi), sydney, the boys who had obesity on average have a lower quality of life. it's no wonder if the condition of excessive weight gain among adolescents, especially adolescent boys tended to be associated with a decline in life satisfaction."we were surprised when the negative psycho-social impact of found obesity on teen boys turned out to be bigger than the teen girls. because this study shows that the status is not healthy weight and excessive body fat gives a negative impact on the physical and mental well-being of youth, especially in teenage boys, "said research team leader, bamini gopinath."teenage women who experience instead of being overweight or obese in this study shows that quality of life score is not much different with teen girl her weight is normal," he added.the conclusion obtained after researchers conducted two studies. in the first study, researchers calculate the score the quality of life or quality of life (qol) of 1.688 teen 21 schools in sydney between the years 2004-2005. with an average age of 12.7, each participant underwent a measurement of weight, height, body mass index, body fat percentage and waist circumference.after that, the study followed between the years 2009-2011 when the participants age 17-18 years old. in this second study researchers conducted repeated measurements on participants ' physical and using questionnaires to assess score qol per participant. the questionnaire covers three main scores: score total score qol, physical health and psycho-social health score.even so, gopinath tahu-menahu not what is claimed to be the reason behind this condition but he speculated it is relation to the importance of sports for teenage boys."because obesity makes their participation in certain sports to be limited, it's the same with any negative influence on the function of social or physical function for teenage boys," guess gopinath as quoted from zeenews, tuesday (26/2/2013).to reinforce their findings, researchers also observed changes in qol scores for five years of study participant if the participant experience weight loss. as a result, the quality of life also increased when participants managed to lose weight or get back to normal weight. this can be seen from the score qol.this study has been published in the american journal of adolescent health.(vit/vit )
